Here is a little bit of Linenfelser history I found on my own. Mom says she has a lot of info but I haven’t had a chance to check it yet so I apologize if I have anything wrong.
Starting out in Östringen, Baden, Germany
Georg b 1771 and Katharina Gramlich b 1774
- Georg’s children: Johann b 1795
Johann b 1795 and Anna Maria Hoffman b 1802
- Johann’s children were Elizabeth 1828, Adelhard 1827, Adelhard 1832, Florian 1824, Ludwina 1833, Pius 1825
Pius b 1825 and Paulina Maelich b 1829
- Pius’s children were, Otilda 1855, Joseph 1857, Frederick 1859, Anna 1862, Louisa 1866
Pius and family arrived 1865? There were already Linenfelser’s from Östringen here in the US, namely Anton Linenfelser along with a number of his immediate family. I do not know how Pius and Anton are related, whether brothers or cousins.
update: Anton’s parents were Friedrick Linenfelser and Margaretha Holziner, Freidrick was a son of Georg and Catharina, so Johann and Anton were cousins. This branch of the family settled in Illinois.
Joseph Linenfelser born 9/1857 Germany married to Louisa Heisler born April 1867 in Michigan
children:
- William 2/1886
- John 1/1889
- Daniel 12/1892 (the census form shows birth of Jan 1893)
- Louise 2/1895 update: Louise was listed on the 1900 census but apparently was known as Betty/Elizabeth.
Louisa was born in America but both her parents were born in Germany according to this census form.
Info about Louisa:
Louisa Heisler, age 12 in 1880 census, lived in London, Monroe, MI. Her father Barney (Barnhart) Heisler, born in Baden Germany 1827, mother Bridget Heisler (Brichita Yougs) 1838, siblings: Charles 19, Joseph 17, Daniel 10, Rheinhard 7, Fred 5, John 2. I found some things where Heisler was spelled Husler.
1880 census shows the Pius Linenfelser family down the road from the Heislers. The whole page indictes all the parents and some children were born in Baden Germany.
